Our aim is to promote road safety and defensive driving techniques to protect our students and all other road users throughout their driving lifetime.

Corona Virus Update - 23rd February 2021

Following the Road Map announcement yesterday all driving practical and theory tests and all driving lessons in England currently remain suspended. It is anticipated although not confirmed that the resumption of driver training and tests will commence on 12th April 2021. During this time there will be key worker lessons and tests allowed.

If you are waiting to start lessons please be patient, we will get you started as soon as we can.

If you have an upcoming driving test please can you monitor your emails for a new appoint from the DVSA. Once received please can you inform us ASAP.

If you have started lessons and have yet to pass your Theory Test please book a Theory Test as soon as possible and practice to ensure that you are prepared. Driving test waiting times are already extended and will go out further with the current restrictions.

Free Theory Test support is available to all of our students through our partners Theory Test Pro.

Learner Drivers on Motorways

From Monday 4th June 2018 learner drivers will be able to have lessons on the motorway network in England, Scotland and Wales.

How Will the Change Work?

Learner drivers will need to be:

accompanied by an approved driving instructor
driving a car fitted with dual controls

Motorway lessons will remain voluntary with the driving instructor deciding when the learner driver is competent enough to have motorway lessons.

The Driving Test has Changed

The Driving Test changed from Monday 4th December.

Whats changed?

Independent Driving: The independent driving section of the test is increasing from 10 minutes to 20 minutes and during most tests will involve using a satnav.This should include more higher speed roads and fewer housing estates.

Manoeuvres: Out go the turn in the road and reverse around corner to be replaced by forwards bay parking and reversing out and pull;ing up on the right side of the road and reversing before pulling off.

Show Me, Tell Me Questions: Rather than both questions being asked at the start of the test, one tell me question will be asked before the test commences and the show me question will be asked during the driving section of the test. The Q&A's can be found on the Downloads page of this website.

East Leake Academy Young Driver Experience

East Leake Academy Students who were allocated places on the first Young Driver Experience

Our first Young Driver Experience Day in partnership with East Leake Academy will took place at the Academy on November 19th. The students who took part were challenged to move off, stop under control, steer through a course and reverse manoeuvre the cars. The Mark Carroll Driving School Awards 2017

The Mark Carroll Driving School Awards are presented in partnership with East Leake Academy to recognise Year 11 students who have excelled during their time at East Leake Academy.

This year four students have received the award, one representing each House at the school. Two are pictured above, unfortunately the two other recepients were completing their NCS placements and were unable to attend the presentation. Each student received a voucher for 5 hours of driving tuition with Mark Carroll Driving School.

Cannot recommend Mark enough! I started lessons with Mark as a nervous/unconfident driver, partially due to my previous instructor failing to teach me how to use a brake in 10 hours of lessons(!!). Despite me being out of my comfort zone, Mark made me feel at ease with lots of reassurance and a brilliant sense of humour from the very first lesson. I enjoyed how Mark allowed me to choose the lesson content, as it meant he could help me more with the areas I found most difficult. I greatly appreciate how Mark put up with my perfectionism, which ended up being my main problem with learning to drive! Once this was overcome, I became a much more confident driver, and passed my test all thanks to Mark!
I highly recommend him to anyone looking to have driving lessons, no matter what experience or ability?

After failing a test and having a bad experience with a driving instructor, I completely - pardon the pun - wrote-off driving three years ago. I was a nervous wreck and the thought of getting behind the wheel made me want to have a panic attack. For some reason, I decided to give this driving lark another go last year and heard from a family friend that Mark was pretty good. I clicked with Mark from the very first lesson and soon found out he's definitely more than 'pretty good'. Mark understood my anxieties, he put me at ease and he made me laugh - a lot! Three years ago I would have told you I'm never going to drive. Last Friday I passed my test and now I can not only drive, but I can drive confidently. I can't thank you enough Mark and I definitely recommend him to anyone thinking about driving or getting back into driving.
